How to build more confidence in kids : Develop Self-Esteem

Self-esteem or feelings of self-worth are linked to success in life, and play an important role in the development of children’s social, physical and academic abilities. Research shows that low self-esteem is associated with increased risk for loneliness, resentment, irritability, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders.
As a parent, you, more than anyone else, can play an important role in promoting your children’s self-esteem and helping them feel better about themselves. As a parent, you are in THE prime position to mirror back to kids how they should see themselves. You do this through your messages, your expectations and how you treat your child.
Self-esteem is a term used in psychology to reflect a person’s overall evaluation of his or her own worth. If you have good self-esteem, it means that you like yourself and believe that you are as good as everyone else. If you have poor self-esteem, it means that you believe that you are inferior to others.

Confidence is more about risk-taking and trying new activities. Confident kids are more likely to make the most of their potential as they’ll extend themselves both socially and learningwise. Fears and anxieties, while present, don’t stop them from trying new activities.
 Here are 10 ways to build confidence in your kids so they can take their place in the world:
  • Model confident mindsets: Kids pick up your thinking as well as your language so teach kids how to approach tricky or new situations confidently by doing so yourself. That means, don’t put yourself down if you make a mistake.
  • Encourage kids to look on the bright side: Optimism is catching and helps kids overcome their fears. Help kids set their antennae to look for the good, something positive or a learning in any situation.
  • Help them understand self-talk: That little voice inside their heads can talk them up or talk them down. Kids who are low on confidence use a great deal of negative self-talk. Get kids to listen to their self-talk and help them work out alternative messages that help them rather than hold them back.
  • Recognise effort & improvement: Low risk-takers and perfectionists appreciate parents who focus more on the processes of what they do, rather than results. Effort, improvement and enjoyment are examples of processes that you can comment on.
  • Focus on strength and assets: Fault-finding can become an obsession for some parents, particularly fathers. Step back and look at supposed faults through a different lens (i.e. stubbornness can be rebadged as determination, which is handy in many contexts). Let your kids know what their strengths are so they know what they are good at!
  • Accept errors as part of learning: Don’t over react when kids don’t get the perfect score or make mistakes. Errors are part of learning, ask any golfer.
  • Give them real responsibility at home: Giving responsibility is a demonstration of faith. It fosters self-belief and also provides growth opportunities for kids. Confidence and responsibility go hand in hand.
  • Develop self-help skills from an early age: Confidence is linked to competence. You can praise a child until the cows come home, but unless he or she can do something they won’t feel confident. Basic self-help skills are inextricably linked to selfesteem.
  • Spend regular time teaching & training: Parents are children’s first teachers. They educate them in everything from how to do up their shoelaces as pre-schoolers to how to fill out a tax form as late adolescents. Look for teachable moments where you can help your kids. They are everywhere!
  • Build scaffolds to success and independence: Look for ways to make it easy for your child to be successful. That may mean that you break down complex activities into bitesized chunks so they can experience success or even cope with stressful situations so they can overcome their fears.
Children with good self-esteem have a sense of security, assume responsibility, act independently, take personal pride in accomplishments, tolerate frustration, accept mistakes and failure, have a sense of self-discipline and self-control, handle peer pressure appropriately, attempt new tasks and challenges, handle positive and negative feelings, and offer assistance to others.
While it is normal to have ups and downs in life, and children’s sense of self-esteem can vary from one situation to the next, constant poor or low self-esteem can be a symptom of a mental health disorder or emotional disturbance requiring medical attention.

Guiding Our Children To Be Creative


Without realizing it we often create an environment that makes the children are not creative. For example, more children watch TV or play computer games. Try to occasionally let the kids play on their own without a television or other game gadgets. If left alone, the children are often very creative and often more creative than we are.

It is true that children need the knowledge and skills, but they also need to learn how to think creatively, which is to create new ideas from scratch. Creativity is an essential life skill. If the teachers in the school lacks in teaching children creativity, you can actually do it at home. So turn off the TV, turn off the computer games and invite your child to play a game that requires creativity. If you do not have your own ideas, you can find ideas from books, from the library or the internet to get ideas for your child to be able to perform activities that require creativity.
Try to do some of these activities:
  1. You can invite children to do activities outside the home. Encourage them to go outside and play.
  2. Try to make a craft. Put paper, scraps, glue, knick-knacks, markers, crayons, rubber bands, paper clips, buttons, thread, and other things that you can find on the table. Encourage your children to make something as simple as a butterfly or toy cars.
  3. Making things out of wood. Children love making things out of wood. Help them make a bird house. Use a draft of a book or from the internet. Make a small box with a roof, holes, and stick to perch and hang it on the tree and now the kids can watch the birds happy.
  4. Experiment with science. Find directions from the internet or a book how to make bell or electric motors of trash such as cans, wire, screws. Then create a race and they might be surprised to see who wins. If they could figure out why they lost and where lies the problem, one day they will learn it in a physics lesson.
There are many other creative activities that you can explore yourself.

Married Many Years But Has Not Given Offspring?

As a husband and wife who have been legally married of course expecting the birth of the child from the womb of the wife. However, some pairs of husband and wife despite years of trying apparently God has not give a child as a successor descendants can be proud. If this happens to you then please be patient, because God will always be with those who are patient and pray to Him. An example is the Prophet Abraham who had a child when he was already old.

Every married couple can conceive naturally, about 90% of which is dominated and determined by three related factors, namely ovum cell factor, anatomy of uterus, as well as sperm factor. If all three of these factors in the normal range, but still can not get pregnant, mother recommended a balanced diet (adequate protein and fruits, exercise once a week, about 1-2 hours), keep a healthy weight, and having sex about 2 - 3 times a week.

Do not despair if you so many years of married but have not been pregnant. Consult your obstetrician about your condition and your husband. You may also try some unique tips to get pregnant. But basically, to get pregnant, it takes a good lifestyle, and reduce the use of drugs that are less supportive of your pregnancy.

Surrounding Environments Influence The Development Of Children

As social beings each individual must interact with other individuals, including children also need to know and be aware of the existence of the circumstances surrounding friends in the neighborhood he lived. Through interaction with friends in this environment was a child learn to society, learn the temperament addressing other children who are very diverse. When hanging out with other kids around sometimes a child suddenly cried because maybe fighting over a toy robot or swing or for other trivial things. But it will all be memorable for him that not everyone is going to do to her liking, do anything to please him.

Like two sides of a coin, the association of children with the surrounding community will have a positive impact or a negative impact. Like the example above, a child can learn about self-control is a positive thing, but at other times may be met or will see adults behaving badly and could be an alternative behavior that wants tried, such as liquor or intoxicated due to consumption drugs. That's why a child still need the guidance of the family as the core of the smallest communities so that deviant behavior can be reduced or even avoided.
Good and positive interaction among a family with another family in the neighborhood will be a positive influence for the kids anyway. They will understand that they need each other, and with the positive interaction will also build an understanding that collaboration will result in a positive expected goals. That's why there needs to be an initiative of every family to help each other family, in terms of goodness.
One thing that is important from the above explanation is, that the first is supposed to do is form a harmonious family first, of harmonious families this was a harmonious society will be formed as well. Here is a prayer that the family be 'sakinah'. Sampled prayer of the holy verses of the Qur'an, which is one of the Prophet's prayer.

  رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
read:
Robbana hablanaa min azwajinaa wadzurriyatinaa qurrota a'yunin waj'alnaa lilmuttaqiina imaamaa.

meaning:
"Our Lord, Grant unto us our wives and our offspring as happy maker of our heart, and make us priests for those who fear Allah."
(Surat al-Furqan: 74)
